OTT tops pay-TV in Spain
What’s interesting about this survey from the Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia, is that the amount of Spaniards now embracing OTT viewing is at the same rates Pay-TV was a few years ago, before IP-based technology drove the industry to reach 40% of homes.
The CNMC pointed out that the average Spaniard spends nearly 3 hours a day watching videos on TV, but spend almost the same amount of time watching videos across other devices!
And there is a considerable behavioural difference with younger demographics where mobile screens gain relevance (4.7 hours a day) while daily TV time decreases to 2.2 hours.
