‘Explosive’ growth in online video streaming
In yet another hugely positive prognosis for the OTT (over-the-top) and video streaming market, QoE analytics provider Conviva found what they call an ‘astronomical growth’ in audiences for online video during Q1 of 2018!
The company’s quarterly measurement report, which measures the state of OTT and streaming video, covering both the quantity and quality of the streaming viewership, found that internet-delivered video across mobile, connected TVs and desktop grew by an amazing 114% in the first quarter of 2018 compared to the same timeframe last year.
Another interesting surge pattern was app-based plays, which had grown four times faster than browser-based views on personal computers.
The report discovered that one of the biggest improvements that might be supporting the uptake was the drop in videos failing to start, which had halved in comparison to the same timeframe in 2017.
