Eastern European OTT revenues set to triple by 2023

What I like about this report is it’s a great example of how innovation and local networks can thrive in a region that is not yet dominated by the global SVOD giants.

Russia places restrictions on ‘foreign ownership OTT platforms’, which limits companies such as Netflix and Amazon Prime, but gives smaller ’home-grown’ platforms a chance to thrive and offer localized and targeted experiences to their customers.

OTT Revenues in the 22 countries that make up Eastern Europe are set to balloon over the next 5 years from just over $1 billion in 2017 to over $3.5 billion by 2023, with SVOD being the key revenue generator. That’s pretty impressive growth!

Russia is projected to account for two-fifths of the region’s OTT revenues by 2023, with Poland generating another 23%. It’s estimated this will equate to over 22 million SVOD subscribers by 2023.
